Description
About the Artist I MUSICI DE MONTREAL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA YULI TUROVSKY, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND CONDUCTOR As a member and a soloist of the Moscow Chamber Orchestra (Rudolf Barshai, conductor), cellist Yuli Turovsky has toured extensively throughout the world. He has conducted and performed with the most renowned orchestras. His concerts in Detroit, Athens, Jerusalem or Stockholm have been hailed by the public and the press. A busy recording artist, Turovsky appears on more than 82 recordings on various labels. A few years after settling in Montreal in 1977, he founded I Musici de Montréal (IMM), a 15-player orchestra performing music from the baroque repertoire to the contemporary era. An unprejudiced attitude has always left space for eclectic programming: klezmer and South American music meet jazz and a concert-showing of "choreographed paintings" inspired by Mussorgsky's music. An ever growing corpus of works born of fruitful collaborations with artists of all horizons is the best witness of the importance of creation for IMM. Frequent world premieres and numerous brilliant orchestral transcriptions by Maestro Turovsky are highlights of IMM seasons. Product Description I Musici de Montréal are back with a new album featuring their landmark repertoire: the music of Tchaikovsky. Souvenir de Florence and the First Quartet, works they have played numerous times over their history, are recorded in orchestral versions realized by maestro Yuli Turovsky. A new long-awaited CD to be added on this ensemble prestigious discography.
