Smooth-On KX Flex 60 Pourable Urethane Rubber Elastomer Trial Size
Smooth-On KX Flex 60 Pourable Urethane Rubber Elastomer Trial Size
Description
KX Flex 60 is part of the KX Flex Series of fast-setting, flexible urethane casting elastomers designed for a variety of applications. It offers exceptional physical and performance properties, including high impact resistance, making it ideal for mold making, model duplication, prototyping, durable miniatures, special effects, and impact-resistant parts. With a Shore hardness of 60A, KX Flex 60 provides a balance of flexibility and durability. The material has a pot life of 2.5 minutes, with handling time as soon as 30 minutes, depending on mass, and cured castings are flexible, tough, and impact-resistant. KX Flex 60 is easy to color using SO-Strong, UVO, or IGNITE colorants and is formulated to be phthalate-free, mercury-free, and MOCA-free. KX Flex 60 urethane should be stored and used in a warm environment, ideally around 73°F/23°C. It is moisture-sensitive, so it should be mixed and poured in a low-humidity environment (below 50% RH) for optimal results. When preparing to use, make sure mixing containers and tools are clean and suitable for liquid urethanes. A release agent, such as Universal Mold Release, should be applied to molds to prevent sticking and ensure smooth removal of castings. KX Flex 60 requires accurate measurement of Part A and Part B using a digital gram scale, and thorough mixing by hand or with a turbine mixer for best results. The material's pot life is 2.5 minutes at 73°F/23°C, so it's important to work quickly once mixed. For pouring, it is recommended to pour the mixture carefully into molds, avoiding air entrapment. Castings can be handled after 30 minutes but will reach full cure in 24 hours at room temperature. To speed up the curing process and enhance physical properties, post-curing in a dedicated shop oven for 4 hours at 150°F/65°C is recommended. KX Flex 60 is suitable for fast mold-making, model duplication, prototyping, durable miniatures, props, special effects, and making impact-resistant parts. Always perform a small test to ensure the material is suitable for your specific application.
