This promotes better feather growth and natural sleep cycles since there is no disruptive light. Why the extra absorbent pad? Baby chicks are notoriously messy. The included 11.8" x 15.7" absorbent pad fits perfectly under the heating area. It traps moisture from spilled water and droppings, keeping the chicks' feet dry and making your daily brooder cleaning a breeze. Care Instructions & Limitations (Please Read): Indoor/Enclosed Use Only: This heater is designed for indoor use or draft-free enclosed brooders. It is not meant to heat the ambient air of a large, freezing outdoor coop. It heats the chicks directly via contact.
